Save Taxes With Charitable Contributions
It's a great time of the year to de-clutter your home and give away clothing and other items that are still in good shape but you no longer want or need.
And if you itemize your taxes, you'll get a tax break too. Just be sure to get a receipt when dropping off your non cash contributions--don't deposit them into an unmanned container where you can't get a receipt.
No receipt = no deduction.
Keep in mind that under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, you can only deduct charitable donations of clothes or household items if they're in "good" condition or better.
Reference IRS Publication 526 - Charitable Contributions for all the details.
Reduce your tax bill and help your community with charitable contributions!
